urban suite chicago gets it!
Jan 28
i’m not a big clubber but i occasionally enjoy shaking my bootyocks and the video below, retweeted by @akili‘s (tweeted by @URBANSUITECHI/@TheShrineChi) makes me want to get on the next plane back to chicago!
i was already sitting here going stir crazy cruising travelocity for deals.
i post this because it’s a perfect example of how a simple but great promotion can be done. all too often i see promoters, club owners, etc. complain about people not supporting them *yadda, yadda, yadda* and blame their failure on a lack of support.
instead of blaming others, they need to take a step back and figure out what they could have done or can be doing better. with all the new technology out there, it’s time to do more than sticking flyers on folks cars. it’s so 1.0 and limits reach.
event promoters/club owners (along with other business owners) seem to forget that people travel and that a lot of their audience (potential customers) are online. think about how many times you’ve gone online to find out what’s going on…
who knows how long urban suite friday’s will last – but i wish them the best and know this for sure:
- it’s stimulating. they caught my attention and i’m sure the attention of others.
- i’ll be sure to share with my people in chicago. heck, i’m writing a post about it.
- this video will probably be seen more times than a flyer. why? because it’s ‘shareable‘. (people can post, embed or email. with a flyer, you don’t get that.)
- it’s not just local. this video can be viewed anywhere in the world and you never know who’s watching.
- it’s measurable. when you hand flyers over to a street team, you have no idea how many people read it, or trash it. with online video, you know exactly how many people watched you promo and all businesspeople want to know their ROI!

just something to think about. now enjoy…
