don’t take my (a co-working fangirl) word for it

Sep 02

so some of you may know i spent last week in salt lake city. my reason for being there was 50% pleasure – 50% business. to get the 50% business taken care of i had to find a place to work. unfortunately, i had the darndest time finding a place to get some work done.

normally, i’d scope out a coffee shop with a nice vibe and wifi. but i couldn’t find anything. i tried the Barnes & Noble, but i found it to be too noisy, too cold, too crowded and folks were all in my business. frustrated, i turned to my favorite go-to-person, mr. google and searched for a co-working space in slc and found BetaLoft. i headed over, introduced myself and got a tour from the owner Drew Tyler. impressed, i returned the next day to get some work done.

a few days later, Drew invited me to sit in on a video mentoring session – he taught me a few things and encouraged me to ‘get to know’ my Final Cut (i’ve been avoiding it like the plague). in our little coaching session, i even found out he was editing video for Ignite SLC AND did an Ignite presentation. coincidentally, i’m organizing Ignite New Haven – so that was very cool.

during my stay, i tweeted a couple of times about the space and how i found myself getting more work done at a co-working space than a coffee shop. i’ve used co-working spaces before and have been relatively impressed, but my experience at BetaLoft has made me a co-working fangirl.

don’t think a co-working space helps productivity? you don’t have to take my word for it, take Drew’s (okay, maybe it’s a little biased, but it’s true :) )

*now take a bath, brush your teeth, get dressed, pack your gear , prepare to be social and go support a co-working space near you*
